Nexa Resources has entered into an agreement to acquire 10,000 tons of bio-oil from Aperam BioEnergia in order to gradually replace the use of fossil fuels in the production of zinc oxide at the Três Marias (MG) metallurgical unit. Recovered and processed as a co-product from the production of charcoal from Aperam BioEnergia’s renewable forests in the Jequitinhonha Valley, the biofuel will be used by Nexa in 12 zinc oxide production furnaces later this year. It is a sustainable solution that contributes to the energy transition and industrial decarbonisation.
