Agriculture
Agricultural applications demand steels with good hardenability and workability. Aperam carbon steel delivers both.
Home Steel Markets Agriculture
Many agricultural applications require a material with good hardenability and workability. The challenge is finding a solution that offers both. That’s because adding an element to improve hardenability often ends up reducing the material’s workability and vice versa. The exception is boron. With a chemical composition that includes medium levels of carbon and ppm, our boron grades offer the hardenability and workability that agricultural applications demand.

Applications
Agricultural disc blades
Agricultural disc blades require a material that can be easily stamped and tempered. With a very low carbon content (approximately .30%), our boron grades are much easier to stamp and temper than high carbon steels.
Harrow disc plain and notched
Our boron grades ensure that plain and notched harrow disc blades reach a suitable level of hardness for optimal cutting and tempering.
Harvest blades and grazer blades
Aperam offers two grades for harvest and grazer blades. While our high carbon Cr-alloyed grades offer better hardenability than medium carbon grades, our boron grades offer better stampability than high carbon grades.
